Eligible Activities
The Wildlife Program is responsible for: 1) maintaining functioning wildlife habitats, 2) developing and implementing habitat restoration projects, and 3) the inventory and monitoring of priority habitats and species by tracking trends and use on public lands. Participants can achieve these goals by:
• Restoring or improving habitat (grasslands, shrublands, forests, riparian areas) for wildlife like game species, waterfowl, and non-game/watchable wildlife
• Conserving winter range and migration corridors for elk, deer, and pronghorn, in partnership with state wildlife agencies
• Monitoring and collecting data on priority species and habitats to track trends and guide management
• Sharing and integrating wildlife monitoring data across partners to improve coordination
• Supporting recovery of species listed in State Wildlife Action Plans through voluntary, on-the-ground conservation
• Partnering with states on habitat improvement projects
• Creating and carrying out habitat management plans for regionally important species
• Offering training on wildlife habitat management best practices
