Commerce is releasing a new funding opportunity for new multifamily housing developers who are seeking funds to secure technical assistance for a future Housing Trust Fund (HTF) application, or funds to cover non-capital costs for a project preparing to apply for HTF funds in an upcoming HTF funding round. Funds can be used for either technical assistance or preconstruction funding.

      Eligible organizations are also required to be:

      • In compliance with the revenue and taxation laws, as applicable to the recipient, at the time the award is made
      • Licensed to do business in the State of Washington OR a registered business with a Federally Recognized Tribe

      Eligible Activities

      • Technical Assistance Funding. Up to $50,000 per project for nonprofit organization with limited previous rental housing development experience.
      • Preconstruction Funding. Up to $200,000 per project to support non-capital design and planning work for multifamily rental projects.

      Funds and activities should support organizations in preparing to apply for the Housing Trust Fund (HTF).
