FY2025 Farm to School Grant-Turnkey

The Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant Program helps schools serve more locally grown foods and teach kids where their food comes from through activities like taste tests, school gardens, field trips, and adding local foods to meals. Schools can use the grants to start new programs or grow existing ones. For 2025, the Farm to School Turnkey Grants make applying easier by offering ready-to-go project ideas for common farm-to-school activities.

      There are three Turnkey Grant project tracks available in FY 2025: Action Planning, Agricultural Education, and Edible Gardens.

      Eligible entities include:

      • Independent school districts
      • City or township governments
      • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
      • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
      • County governments

      • Eligible schools, including non-profit private and charter schools, which operate the NSLP and/or SBP
      • Eligible child care institutions, including non-school based institutions that have an agreement with the State agency to operate CACFP
      • Eligible summer sponsors, including non-school based institutions that have an agreement with the State agency to operate SFSP
      • Local agencies
      • Indian Tribal Organizations and Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs)
      • Agricultural producers
      • Non-profit entities. Entity type must be clearly indicated and unambiguous in all application materials.
