Smart Manufacturing Technologies for Material and Process Innovation

This opportunity funds technology innovation grants to support new materials, new manufacturing processes, and new circular materials flows to advance a clean, decarbonized economy through modernization of U.S. manufacturing and energy systems. Smart manufacturing refers to the suite of platform technologies (which can be applied to manufacture multiple products) that support the digital transformation of manufacturing across the entire production lifecycle, including design, process, production, supply network, and enterprise levels. This opportunity covers smart manufacturing in four areas: Smart Manufacturing for a Circular Economy, Smart Manufacturing of Tooling and Equipment for Sustainable Transportation, Smart Manufacturing for High Performance Materials, and Smart Technologies for Sustainable and Competitive U.S. Mining.
