Eligible Entities
Eligible applicants include: State Agricultural Experiment Stations, colleges and universities, university research foundations, other research institutions and organizations, Federal agencies, national laboratories, private organizations, non-profit organizations, individuals, and any other domestic institution or organization.
The list above is abbreviated. Others may be eligible to apply. Eligibility may differ based on project types. See Program Area Priorities in the current Foundational and Applied Science Request for Applications (RFA) for the requested project types. Please refer to Part III, A of the current Foundational and Applied Science Program RFA for eligibility requirements. Note that restrictions apply to integrated projects applicants. Applications from ineligible institutions will not be reviewed.
Eligible Activities
The program supports grants in six AFRI priority areas to advance knowledge in both fundamental and applied sciences important to agriculture:
- Plant Health and Production and Plant Products;
- Animal Health and Production and Animal Products;
- Food Safety, Nutrition, and Health;
- Bioenergy, Natural Resources, and Environment;
- Agriculture Systems and Technology;
- Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities.
Each priority area has different projects underneath it, with their own set of eligibility requirements, project focuses, and deadlines. Please see the RFA for more information
