Commerce 2025-2027 Climate Planning Grants

Pending legislative appropriation, Commerce expects to distribute statewide grants to support climate change planning required as part of the Growth Management Act (GMA) periodic update process. Grants are available to local governments in Washington that must include a Climate Change and Resilience element (RCW 36.70A.095) in their comprehensive plans during the next periodic update. Eligible activities include preparing public outreach materials, conducting outreach, staff reports, public meetings/hearings, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, VMT studies, emissions reduction projections, use of climate mapping tools, and development of resilience goals and policies for comprehensive plans. Implementation funding is pending.
