Grants for Local Governments to Adopt Automated Solar Permit Software
From WA Department of Commerce
Commerce is accepting applications to help local governments implement automated permit processing software for residential solar projects. Grants of $20,000 or more will help building departments save time and money on permit processing and accelerate local solar installation. Commerce plans to award 28 grants totaling $570,000 to local governments for adopting SolarAPP+, software that automates permits for simple solar projects. The grants cover costs to adopt the software, training, pilot programs, and outreach. Applications are open to city and county governments. Priority will be given based on permit workload and adoption costs. Supported by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which invests in climate pollution reduction, job creation, and public health improvements.
